FGC Advances the Red Sea Museum Restoration & Fit-Out, Delivering a Fully Integrated Cultural Landmark

First Gulf Company (FGC) marks a major milestone in the delivery of the Red Sea Museum Restoration & Fit-Out – Bab Al Bunt project, located in the heart of Al-Balad, Jeddah, the project reflects FGC’s role in shaping complex cultural destinations within some of the Kingdom’s most sensitive heritage environments.

Housed within the historic Bab Al Bunt building, once a vital gateway for pilgrims and traders in the late 19th century, the project reflects a careful balance between preservation and innovation. FGC led the full architectural restoration and interior transformation, preserving the building’s historic architectural character and heritage elements while reinforcing the structure to meet modern safety and operational standards.

The scope extended beyond restoration to include complete museography execution, along with the seamless integration of advanced MEP, AV, lighting, and environmental systems. Every element was engineered to operate cohesively within the constraints of a heritage structure, ensuring the museum is not only preserved but fully functional and ready to welcome visitors.

The Red Sea Museum is far more than a normal construction project, it’s about capturing the essence of traditional Jeddah building methods through meticulous restoration, while seamlessly integrating Modern Scenography and MEP systems. Every system, detail, and intervention was carefully coordinated to deliver modern performance while preserving the authenticity and character of the Historic BAB AL-BUNT Building.“ — Eng. Today, the Red Sea Museum stands as a fully immersive cultural destination, transforming a historic structure into a dynamic space for storytelling and public engagement. By bridging the past with present-day experiences, the project contributes to the Kingdom’s broader cultural ambitions and aligns with Saudi Vision 2030.

The successful completion of the project reinforces FGC’s capability to deliver technically complex and culturally significant developments, demonstrating how heritage can be preserved, enhanced, and experienced by future generations. As FGC remains committed to being “Trusted to do,” the company continues to deliver projects with technical excellence, innovation, and meticulous execution—creating lasting value while preserving the cultural heritage and historical identity of the communities it serves.
